Manvi's POV
The way Dhruv held my hand while bandaging it... the way he actually yelled at me because he was worried... yeah, I'm toasted. Fried. Finished. I, Manvi Gupta, have fallen head over heels into the "Dhruv Defense Academy" of love.
But how do you impress a guy who is basically a human mountain of calm?
"I need a plan," I muttered, pacing my room while Kittu was buried under a pile of Physics modules."He likes the Army. He likes fitness. He likes... discipline?"
Step one: The Aesthetic. No more messy hair. I spent an hour trying to get that "effortless" sporty look-high ponytail, mascara that wouldn't smudge if I "accidentally" worked out, and a hint of peach lip balm.
Step two: The Interests. I spent all night googling "How to sound like an fitness expert." Terms like tactical maneuver, regiment, and endurance were now my best friends.
Step three: The Execution. I arrived at the gym early, waiting for him like a hunter in a neon-pink tracksuit. When he walked in, looking devastatingly focused in his gym gear, my heart did a backflip.
"Oh, hi Dhruv!" I said, leaning against the counter with a pose I'd practiced in the mirror. "Just thinking about... you know... the importance of strategic hydration during high-intensity tactical training."
Dhruv stopped, his gym bag halfway off his shoulder. He looked at me, then at my perfectly curled ponytail, then back at me. "Strategic... what?"
"You know, the stamina required for a soldier," I continued, trying to look profound while accidentally knocking over a protein shaker. "It's all about the... the mental fortitude."
Dhruv's POV
I knew the second I saw her grace.
Manvi is many things, but "subtle" is not one of them. She was standing there in a tracksuit that looked brand new, using words like fortitude and tactical while looking like she was about to trip over her own feet.
I realized exactly what was happening. She was trying to impress me.
It was the most adorable thing I had ever seen, but I had to keep my face straight. If I laughed, she'd never let it go..
"Mental fortitude, huh?" I asked, walking closer to the counter. I watched her eyes widen as I leaned in. "Is that why you're wearing mascara today, Manvi? Is it... tactical mascara?"
Her face turned a shade of pink that put her tracksuit to shame. "I-it's waterproof! For... sweat! From all the hard work I do chopping carrots!"
"I see," I suppressed a smile. "And the hair? Does the high ponytail help with the aerodynamics?"
"You're making fun of me," she pouted, her "cool" persona crumbling instantly.
"Maybe a little," I admitted, reaching across the counter. I didn't take a glass this time; I just gently tugged on one of the loose strands of her hair. "But for the record? You don't need the tactical vocabulary, Manvi. I already think the girl who explodes blenders is pretty impressive."
The silence that followed was thick with butterflies. She stared at me, her mouth slightly open, the "Operation" clearly forgotten.
"So," I whispered, my voice dropping to that low register that always made her flush. "Are you going to keep standing there posing, or are you going to make the juice? Or is the carrot-chopping too strategically difficult today?"
"I... I'll make the juice," she squeaked, spinning around so fast she almost hit the blender.
I sat at the table, watching her back. I knew I should probably tell her she didn't have to try so hard, but honestly? Watching her try to navigate the "Ocean" of her own feelings was the highlight of my day. She was a storm of chaos, and for the first time, I didn't want the peace. I wanted her, her chaos. I want her to be my Hail Storm in the Rain.
