Author's POV
The mahogany doors of the main boardroom swung open as Manav Mishra walked in, his gait slower than it was ten years ago, but his presence no less commanding. He looked at Anant, who was reviewing a projected market analysis for their latest anticoagulant drug.
"Anant," Manav said, placing a hand on his son's shoulder. "The Board has reached a consensus. The Knowledge City expansion isn't just a project anymore; it's the future of Mishra Pharmaceuticals. It's the new medicine hub of the state, especially with the recent breakthroughs in monoclonal antibody therapy and CRISPR technology. I need you there to spearhead the new branch."
Anant looked up, his eyes sharp. "I've already looked at the blueprints, Dad. We need to integrate a state-of-the-art Bioluminescent Imaging lab if we want to stay ahead of the competition. But it's going to require a complete overhaul of the senior leadership team there."
"Exactly," Manav nodded. "I've authorized the HR firm to skip the middle-management filters. We need a visionary for the Senior Leadership & Biotech Strategy role-someone who can bridge the gap between lab-scale R&D and commercial viability. I want you to focus on the site visit to the manufacturing plant this week. Let the recruitment head handle the onboarding. Just make sure they sign a solid one-year non-compete and performance contract."
Anant nodded, unaware that his lack of involvement in the final interview would be the pivot point of his life.
Krithika's POV
I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of the 42nd floor, my reflection sharp against the skyline of Knowledge City. I had just signed the most lucrative contract of my career. One year. Senior Leadership.
I was tired of my previous firm; the growth had stagnated, and I needed a challenge that matched my hunger. This new company, though a giant in the industry, was undergoing a massive digital and biological transformation. It was the perfect playground for my skills in bio-informatics and regulatory compliance.
"Ms. Sharma, welcome to the team," the Office Manager said, leading me through the sleek, glass-partitioned corridors. "Your reputation precedes you. But a word of advice-our CEO is... a force of nature. He is a 'Total Quality Management' purist. He doesn't believe in 'trying'; he believes in 'executing.' He is highly punctual, expects data-driven results, and has zero tolerance for delays or excuses. If the High-Performance Liquid Chromatography results are due at 9:00 AM, he expects them at 8:55."
I allowed a small, confident smirk to touch my lips as I smoothed my blazer. "He sounds like a man who understands efficiency. Tell the CEO he won't have to worry about my department. I don't give excuses; I give solutions."
I hadn't even looked at the nameplate on the penthouse office yet. To me, he was just another boss I would eventually outshine.
Anant's POV
I returned from the site visit, the dust of the manufacturing plant still metaphorically on my boots. My Manager followed me into my office, buzzing with an uncharacteristic excitement.
"Sir, the recruitment for the Biotech Strategy lead is complete," he said, handing me a folder. "The woman we've hired is a literal shark in the industry. She's coming from a top-tier consultancy. Her success story with the Phase III clinical trial optimization in her last firm saved them nearly forty percent in overhead costs. She's known for being ruthless with deadlines and brilliant with molecular diagnostics."
I didn't open the folder. I was too busy looking at the quarterly projections. "Good. If she's as half as good as the rumors say, she'll handle the R&D-to-Market pipeline without me having to micro-manage her. Did she sign the one-year contract?"
"Yes, Sir. She starts tomorrow. She's already moved into the executive wing. They say she has a 'Take no prisoners' attitude."
"Excellent," I muttered, leaning back in my chair. "I like people who know their worth. Achievements speak louder than names anyway. Let's see if she can handle the pressure once we start the recombinant protein project next week."
I felt a strange sense of anticipation. For ten years, I had been the smartest person in every room I entered. It sounded like someone had finally arrived who might actually give me a run for my money.
The board is set. "Anant" and "Krthika" are under the same roof.
