Mannu's POV
The world outside our window faded into a soft, rhythmic hum, leaving only the two of us in a circle of golden light. Dhruv leaned forward, his presence enveloping me like a long-awaited summer after a decade of winter. This time, there was no sharp ring of a telephone, no hospital emergency, and no ghosts of our past to pull us apart. The air between us felt thick with everything we had ever felt and never said.
As his hand came up to cup my face, his thumb tracing the line of my jaw with a reverence that made my breath hitch, I realized this wasn't just a moment. It was a sacred bridge.
When his lips finally met mine, it didn't feel like a beginning or an end-it felt like the final, perfect line of a poem we had been writing since a long time. It was a kiss that tasted of stolen glances in school hallways, of the bitter-sweet ache of long-distance longing, and the earthy comfort of medical camp tea shared under a tin roof.
In that embrace, The man who had been the silent guard of my heart for twelve years finally let himself be guarded by mine. I, the girl who was always a restless wave-always moving, always blunt, always "too much"-finally found my shore.
His strength didn't try to break my softness; it cradled it. I felt a quiet, breathtaking light fill every corner of my soul, melting away the insecurities of the "rebel girl" and replacing them with the certainty of a woman who is cherished. Our heartbeats, once separate and frantic, finally found a single, steady melody. It wasn't just love; it was home.
In the silence of that night, I finally understood that I didn't need to chase the horizon anymore. My horizon was right here, holding me close, turning our two separate stories into one beautiful, eternal song.
The "fees" have finally been paid! The sisters are happy, and the brothers have found their peace.
