Chapter 16: The Impossible Truth

12th CENTURY – VIJAYGARH

The night air in Vijaygarh was heavy with tension.

Veer stood alone in the palace balcony, staring into the darkness. The words Dev had spoken earlier kept repeating in his mind.

She doesn't belong to this time.

Veer clenched his fists.

It sounded impossible.

And yet... everything about Diya had always been different.

Her thoughts.

Her courage.

Her strange words.

Her ideas about education, equality, and change.

Finally, Veer made a decision.

He accepted the truth.

PALACE TERRACE

Diya was standing near the terrace railing, looking at the moon.

Veer approached slowly.

"Maharani."

Diya turned.

"Maharaj?"

Veer's expression was serious.

"I need to ask you something."

Diya sensed the tension.

"What is it?"

Veer stepped closer.

"Who are you really?"

Diya froze.

Veer continued,

"Dev told me something strange."

Diya whispered,

"What did he say?"

Veer looked directly into her eyes.

"He said you are not from this time."

The silence that followed felt endless.

Diya realized the moment she had feared had finally arrived.

She took a deep breath.

"Maharaj... what I'm about to say may sound impossible."

Veer replied quietly,

"Try me."

Diya spoke slowly.

"I come from a different time... eight hundred years in the future."

Veer didn't interrupt.

Diya continued,

"In my world there are machines... electricity... flying vehicles... hospitals... and people live very differently."

She paused.

"I accidentally traveled back in time by a time machine."

Veer stared at her.

Part of him wanted to reject the idea completely.

But another part of him knew...

It explained everything.

Diya whispered softly,

"I never meant to come here."

"And I never meant to become your queen."

For the first time, Veer looked deeply shaken.

"So one day..."

"Will you return to your time?"

Diya looked down silently.

"Yes."

The word felt like a dagger to his heart.

Veer turned away.

For the first time in years, the fearless king looked vulnerable.

"And I will lose you."

Diya's eyes filled with tears.

"I never planned to care about anyone here."

"But I do."

Their eyes met.

And in that moment, both understood something unspoken.

Their hearts were already too involved.

PALACE GARDEN – SAME TIME

Meanwhile Roohi was walking toward the medical hall when Dev suddenly stopped her.

"Roohi."

She turned nervously.

"Yes?"

Dev spoke calmly.

"I know your secret."

Roohi froze.

Dev continued,

"You and Ranisa are not from this world."

Roohi looked shocked.

"How did you—"

"I heard everything."

Roohi sighed.

"So now you think we are witches who came from the outside world?"

Dev shook his head.

"No."

"I think you are extraordinary."

Roohi smiled faintly.

"You're handling this surprisingly well."

Dev looked at her quietly.

"But I also understand something now."

Roohi asked softly,

"What?"

Dev replied,

"You will eventually leave."

Roohi didn't answer.

Dev nodded slowly.

"I thought so."

But despite the pain in his eyes, he said something unexpected.

"Even if you leave... I do not regret loving you."

Roohi's heart softened.

DARK FOREST – OUTSIDE VIJAYGARH

Deep inside the forest, the unknown assassin was angry as his plan didn't work out

He was not just an assassin.

He was the former royal commander of Vijaygarh.

His name was Rudra Sen.

He wanted to kill MahaRani Diya Gauri so that he can again make both the kingdoms fight between each other. He wanted to make Harinath against Vijayagarh. But all his plans failed as Harinath himself has saved his little sister.

Years ago, Veer's parents had discovered his treachery.

He had secretly been planning to overthrow the royal family and was using Somnadh for the same.

Before they could expose him, Rudra Sen assassinated them.

But Veer survived.

And now... Rudra Sen wanted to finish what he started.

His voice turned darker.

"Prepare for the next attack."

"This time... we will not fail."

PALACE BALCONY – LATE NIGHT

Back in Vijaygarh, Veer was still standing alone.

Diya approached slowly.

"Maharaj..."

Veer looked at her.

His voice was quieter than usual.

"If you return to your time..."

"Will you forget me?"

Diya's eyes filled with emotion.

"Never."

Veer nodded slowly.

But deep inside...

The king who feared nothing in war...

Was now terrified of losing the woman he loved.
