In a world full of loud noise and constant crowds, finding that o.ne person who makes you feel completely seen and heard is life's greatest melody.
With the arrival of the semester exams, the usual carefree laughter in the college corridors vanished, replaced by the collective rustle of textbook pages and stressed whispers.
For Riya, the tension was hitting a completely new peak. Computer Networks (CN) was notoriously tough, and staring at the sprawling syllabus the evening before the exam was sending her into a quiet state of panic.
Right on cue, her phone lit up. It was Purvi.
Realizing they were all sailing in the same turbulent boat, they quickly set up a late-night Google Meet, adding Isha into the loop.
The clock ticked past 2:00 AM. Under the dim glow of their study lamps, the three girls flipped through PDFs, quizzed each other on protocols, and scribbled down diagrams.
In their exhausted state, they scanned a massive section in the textbook syllabus index. Because of a slight misalignment in the print layout, they completely misread the indentation. Believing it is a smaller chapter they completely left part B of the chapter.
The next morning, the examination hall was dead silent, save for the furious scratching of pens. Riya was staring at text book, doing some last-minute revisions, when the sharp click of heels echoed down her aisle.
It was the strict CN Mam, making her routine rounds. She stopped right beside Riya's desk, her sharp gaze scanning the blank answer sheet before looking directly at her.
"So, Miss Riya... which chapters have you prepared today?" the professor asked, her voice dripping with an intimidating authority.
Riya straightened her spine, pulling up her classic, confident facade. "Ma'am, Chapters 1, 2, and 3. Perfectly done."
The professor raised an eyebrow, tapping her pen against her clipboard. "Good. Then in Chapter 3, did you thoroughly check the Sliding Window Protocols and its mathematical derivations?"
Riya blinked, a confident smile plastered on her lips. "Ma'am, Sliding Window Protocol is a part of Chapter 4, right?"
CN Mam didn't say a word. She simply reached out, tapped the index page of the textbook resting on the corner of Riya's desk, and traced her finger down the line.
Riya's heart violently dropped into her stomach. As she looked closer, the horrific reality hit her like a lightning bolt. Because she had misread the indentation layout the night before, she hadn't just skipped a minor sub-topic-she had completely bypassed a massive, core section of Chapter 3 itself.
Mam shook her head, letting out a dry, mocking chuckle. "You don't even know the textbook layout, you don't even know the syllabus structure... and that too on the final exam day! Remarkable."
Panicking, Riya frantically shot a desperate look across the aisle toward Isha and Purvi. Both of them looked right back at her, their eyes wide with identical expressions of sheer horror. They slightly shook their heads, silently communicating the worst: even they hadn't touched that entire part.
The CN Professor noticed the silent, terrified exchange between the trio. She looked from Riya to Purvi, and finally to Isha, a knowing smirk playing on her lips.
"Sangati ka asar... fair enough," the professor remarked dryly before turning on her heel and walking down the aisle.
("The influence of company... fair enough.")
The moment the professor moved out of earshot, Riya leaned slightly sideways, whispering fiercely toward Purvi in a voice cracking with panic.
"Yaar, humne ek pura part hi uda diya! Agar aaj ka exam theek nahi gaya na, toh wo CN Ma'am kacha chaba jayengi humein!"
("Dude, we completely wiped out an entire section! If today's exam doesn't go well, that CN Ma'am will literally chew us alive!")
Purvi, trying to maintain her composure while gripping her pen tightly, whispered back with a helpless shrug.
"Ab kuch kar bhi nahi sakte... jo hai wo hai."
("We can't even do anything about it now... it is what it is.")
Isha sighed softly from her bench, keeping her voice low. "Haan, right."
("Yeah, right.")
With absolutely no options left, all three girls closed their eyes for a brief second, offering a silent, desperate prayer to the universe: Please, just don't let a single question appear from Part B.
Miraculously, as they flipped to the main subjective questions, luck favored the brave. Not a single question was picked from that omitted section. They answered the rest of the paper flawlessly, executing a narrow, heart-stopping escape.
As the final exam concluded a few days later, a wave of profound relief washed over the entire campus. Students ran out of halls, cheering and making vacation plans. But amid the chaotic celebration, Akshat stood near the campus courtyard completely lost in his own thoughts.
The past few weeks played like a beautiful melody in his mind. He remembered the fight where she fought with rowdies ferociously and then paralyzing stage fright he had felt during the college fest, and how Purvi had broken through the crowd, grabbed his trembling hands, and demanded his trust. She had brought him back to his music. She had anchored him when he was drifting.
A profound, unshakeable realization hit him squarely in the heart: Purvi had silently become his entire world.
He didn't just like her; he cherished her.
Looking out at the crowd of hundreds of students rushing past, Akshat murmured to himself with a fierce, quiet determination, "I want to make you feel seen and heard among tons of people."
"Iss beed bari duniya mein main tumhe mehsoos karwana chahta hoon ki mein tumhara hoon (I want to make u feel seen and heard in this crowded world)"
He didn't want to wait anymore. He decided he was going to propose to her.
The following morning, Akshat arrived at the girls' hostel lounge. When Purvi walked down the stairs, looking surprised to see him so early, he stepped forward with a nervous but warm smile.
"Hey, Purvi. I was wondering... are you free right now? Let's go out for a coffee," Akshat asked, his voice carrying a soft, hopeful undertone.
Purvi tilted her head, a playful smile touching her lips. "Kyun? Kuch khaas baat?"
("Why? Anything special?")
Akshat's eyes softened completely. "I want to give you a party. Tumne mujhe meri music se dubara milaya hai, hamesha mere saath khadi reh kar. It's the least I can do."
("I want to give you a party. You have united me with my music again, by constantly standing beside me.")
Purvi's heart did a little flutter. She looked down at her casual attire, suddenly feeling flustered. "Par yaar... mujhe thoda time lagega. Maine toh abhi tak nahaya bhi nahi hai."
("But dude... it will take me some time. I haven't even taken a bath yet.")
Akshat chuckled, his posture relaxing as he looked at her beautifully unfiltered state. "Take all the time you need. Aaram se aana... main yahi par wait karunga tumhara."
("Take all the time you need. Come at your own ease... I will wait right here for you.")
A deep warmth bloomed inside Purvi's chest. She nodded happily and rushed back upstairs to get ready.
Akshat took her to a beautiful, quiet restaurant nearby., he had specifically booked a secluded, cabin section-a little sanctuary of their own, away from the buzzing crowd, lit by warm, golden hanging lamps.
True to her simple, unpretentious nature, Purvi didn't scan the fancy mocktail list. She looked up at the waiter and instantly ordered a hot, comforting cup of chai.
As the steaming cups were placed between them, the initial casual banter slowly faded into a charged, beautiful silence. Akshat took a deep breath, his fingers tracing the edge of the table as he looked across at her. The nervousness was there, but his eyes held an absolute certainty.
"Purvi..." Akshat began, his voice dropping into a deep, emotional register. "Ever since you walked into my life, everything changed. I was hiding from my passion, but you saw me. You held my hands when they were shaking and gave me the strength to stand under that spotlight. You didn't just save my music... you saved me. I don't want to just be a chapter in your life, Purvi. I want to be the one who stands by you through every storm and every joy. I love you. I just want to confess my feelings. Even if you don't reciprocate , no hard feelings . It's fine?"
The words hung beautifully in the quiet cabin space.
Purvi froze. Her breath hitched completely, her eyes widening in a state of beautiful, unexpected shock. For a few seconds, her mind went entirely blank as her heart began to race at a frantic speed. A sudden wave of intense, overwhelming happiness washed over her soul.
An internal question rose instantly in her mind: Why not? Why shouldn't I accept this beautiful love?
Seeing her completely silent and frozen, Akshat's heart sank slightly. He mistook her shock for hesitation. He immediately leaned forward, his voice dripping with utmost gentleness and respect, protecting her comfort above his own desires.
"Hey... look at me," Akshat said softly. "I know... agar tum comfortable nahi ho, toh hum yahi ruk sakte hain. Tumhein abhi jawab dene ki bhi zaroorat nahi hai. Take your time, Purvi."
("I know... if you are not comfortable, we can stop right here. You don't even need to answer right away. Take your time, Purvi.")
Purvi looked up, staring straight into his gentle, understanding eyes. The sheer amount of respect and love he was offering her dissolved every single ounce of hesitation within her. A beautiful, radiant smile broke across her face.
"Mujhe time lene ki koi zaroorat nahi hai, Akshat... jab mere dil ne pehle hi haan keh diya hai," Purvi said, her voice steady, clear, and ringing with absolute pride.
("I don't need to take any time, Akshat... when my heart has already said yes.")
Akshat blinked, his heart stopping for a microsecond. "Purvi...?"
Purvi leaned forward, her eyes shining with tears of pure joy as she spoke out loud, her words carrying the weight of an unshakeable faith. " Log faisla lene mein waqt tab lagate hain jab unhe khud par ya samne wale par bharosa nahi hota. Wo darr jaate hain jab trust ki kami hoti hai. Par tum wo insaan ho jispar main aankhein band karke trust karti hoon... aur mujhe ye accept karne mein koi jhijhak nahi hai."
("It's not necessary... people take time to decide when they don't have faith in themselves or the other person. They fear to decide when there is a lack of trust. But here is the guy whom I trust blindly... and I have no hesitation in accepting it.")
She looked right into his soul and said it clearly: "Yes, Akshat. A thousand times yes."
The exact response Akshat's soul had been desperately waiting for finally echoed in the room. Unable to contain the sheer, explosive joy rushing through his veins, Akshat stood up from his chair. Purvi stood up too, and before she could even take a breath, akshat did the iconic srk pose and purvi came running and hugged him.
He lifted her completely off the ground, swirling her around in the private space of the cabin. Purvi let out a breathless, beautiful laugh, her hands automatically locking tightly behind his neck as she held onto him, trusting him completely to never let her fall.
As he slowly brought her feet back to the ground, he didn't let go. He kept her securely held within the protective circle of his arms. Leaning down, Akshat gently, reverently pressed his lips against her temple.
It wasn't just a physical touch; it was a silent vow of protection, a seal of pure, unfiltered, and timeless love. They stood anchored in each other's embrace, the steam from their untouched chai rising quietly into the air marking beautiful new begininings.
