When external disruptions shatter expectations, a secure connection provides the space to reset.
All the friends went to akshat house for emotional support.
After sometime Akshat saw off the rest of the gang.
He walked up to the rooftop terrace of his apartment building. The heavy downpour had slowed to a gentle, cool drizzle. He walked to the edge, resting both hands flat against the stone wall, leaning forward as his mind spiraled deep into thoughts of the day's brutal betrayal.
Down on the ground, the friends were getting ready to head out. As they walked toward the gate, Purvi instinctively looked up. Through the dim light, she spotted Akshat's solitary silhouette standing on the terrace.
She stopped and turned to Riya.
"You guys go ahead. Mujhe thoda kaam hai." (I have some work.)
Riya looked up, following Purvi's gaze to the rooftop. A knowing, understanding smile touched her lips.
"Okay, theek hai." (Okay, fine.)
Purvi hurried back inside the building and took the stairs to the rooftop. Stepping onto the damp concrete, she walked up behind Akshat on tiptoe, gently placing both her hands over his eyes.
Akshat didn't flinch. A faint scent of her familiar perfume instantly gave her away. He smiled softly, reaching up to gently pull her hands down from his eyes.
Turning around to face her, he sighed, "Purvi? You came back again? Main theek hoon, don't worry. Abhi tum jao." (I'm fine, don't worry. You should leave now.)
He took her by the hand, gently guiding her toward the middle of the terrace as if to lead her back to the exit. But Purvi firmly pulled her hand back from his grip, stopping him
"I know you will be fine," she said, looking around with a bright smile.
"But just see how cool the weather is today. You, me, and the moon."
Akshat folded his arms across his chest, staring at her in sheer astonishment, a subtle, disbelieving smile touching his cheek.
Without waiting a second, Purvi took a graceful swirl on the wet terrace floor, laughing softly as she extended her hand out toward him.
Akshat stared at her hand, then at her dancing eyes.
"Purvi... seriously right now?"
"Yes!" she pulled out her phone, tapping the screen.
The soft, melodic strains of the song Duniyaa began to filter through the cool night air:
Bulaave tujhe yaar aaj meri galiyan
Basau tere sang ek duniya...
Akshat looked at her extended hand for a beat longer before his resistance crumbled entirely. He stepped forward, his hand sliding firmly into hers. Pushing away the heavy lingering sadness of the day, he pulled her in close.
What started as a slow sway quickly transformed into a mesmerizing rhythm. Akshat guided her effortlessly into a fluid salsa. He spun her out, the fabric of her outfit cutting through the misty air, before pulling her back sharply against his chest.
His hand resting firmly at the small of her back, her fingers gripping his shoulder, their breathing matching the rising tempo of the music.
As he dipped her low under the dim glow of the terrace light, their eyes locked in a deep, burning gaze. In that breathless moment, he forgot the pain of losing his music album, replaced completely by the rhythm of her heartbeat against his.
Meanwhile, back down on the ground, the rest of the group was debating their commute. Shivansh pulled his car up, rolling down the window to look at Isha and Riya. "Come on, let me drop you both back."
Riya shook her head quickly.
"No, Shivansh. Woh off-way padega tumhein." (That will be completely out of your way.)
"You guys continue. We will book a ride back home. "
"Waise bhi hum saath mein hain na, tumhein takleef dene ki kya zaroorat?" (Anyway, we are together, what's the need to trouble you?)
Yash leaned over from the passenger seat, smirking.
"CR sahiba, just get in. Abhi peak time hone wala hai, we will drop you."
(Wow, Class Representative ma'am, just get in. It's about to be peak traffic time...)
"I have traveled a lot in peak hours too, no issue. You guys go," Riya countered confidently.
Isha nodded in agreement, giving a quiet smile.
"Haan, hum chale jayenge." (Yes, we will manage and go.)
Seeing their stubbornness, Shivansh and yash reluctantly drove off. However, just as Yash had predicted, peak hour had hit, and the ride-sharing apps were showing endless loading screens. No rides were booking.
Riya sighed, looking around until her eyes landed on a brightly lit restaurant across the street.
"Well, Isha, rides aren't booking anyway. Thoda pet puja hi kar lete hain itne time mein, aur phir aakar book karenge."
(Let's just worship our stomachs/eat something in the meantime, and then we will come back and book a ride.)
They walked into the restaurant and ordered a plate of cheese nachos to pass the time. But when the dish arrived, Riya's expression soured. The nachos were visibly burnt to a crisp, and the cheese emitted a distinctly foul, sour odor.
Furious, Riya slammed her napkin down and called the waiter over.
"Excuse me? This food is completely stale and burnt. I need a replacement immediately."
The waiter hesitated, and within a minute, two more senior staff members walked over, trying to brush off the complaint dismissively. Riya wasn't having it. She stood her ground, debating them with sharp arguments about quality and hygiene.
Seeing the argument draw stares, Isha nervously tugged at Riya's sleeve.
"Chal na, kya ho jayega?" (Let's just go, what does it matter?)
Riya looked at her, exasperated.
"Tu itna darti kyun hai? Main hoon na, kuch nahi hoga."
(Why do you get so scared? I'm here, nothing will happen.)
After a lengthy, intense debate, Riya's sharp confidence won. The management backed down, apologized profusely, and provided a fresh, perfectly made plate of food.
As they finally ate, Isha shook her head.
"An entire storm over one plate of nachos?"
Riya popped a nacho into her mouth, looking at her seriously. "Baat nachos ki nahi hai, baat accountability ki hai.
(It's not about the nachos, it's about accountability.)
If no one questions them, how will they ever know their mistake? Aur waise bhi, aisa koi toofaan bana hi nahi jise main jhel na sakoon."
(And anyway, no storm has ever been created that I cannot handle.)
On the exact opposite side of the city, inside a lavish, dimly lit penthouse office, a powerful man stood looking out over the sprawling skyline through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. He swirled a glass of dark amber liquid in his hand, his eyes cold and calculated.
"I am the storm that no one can control," he muttered to himself, his voice dripping with absolute authority.
This is Pralay Rathore. A wildly successful, influential, and ruthlessly calculated businessman. He was a man who could go to any unimaginable extent to win, keeping his power and empire completely intact. He was fiercely image-conscious, and in his world, losing was never an option.
Back near the restaurant, Isha's phone rang. It was Yash, calling to check if they had managed to find a ride. When Isha confessed they were still stranded, the boys immediately pulled their car back around to pick them up.
Soon, all four of them were driving through the city traffic. Shivansh adjusted his rearview mirror, looking at the girls in the back seat.
"Are you guys coming for the upcoming college industrial tour?"
"Yeah, definitely," Riya replied instantly.
Isha remained quiet, looking out the window.
Shivansh noticed her silence and softened his voice. "And you, Isha?"
"I haven't really thought about it yet. I need to decide," Isha said softly, unsure.
Riya immediately nudged her elbow.
"Oh, madam! Decide-vicide kuch nahi, tum aa rahi ho aur bas!"
(Oh, ma'am! No deciding or anything, you are coming and that's final!)
Yash chuckled from the front.
"Hey, don't scare your friend so much."
Riya glared at the back of Yash's head, making him laugh. Isha thought about it for a quick second, looking at her friends' lively banter, and smiled.
"Okay, I will come. If everyone is going, then I am also in."
Hearing her answer, a genuine, happy smile broke across Shivansh's face in the driver's seat.
Back on the terrace, the music had finally faded away. Akshat insisted on dropping Purvi back to her hostel.
The night air was crisp and cool as his bike cut through the empty, wind-swept roads. Purvi sat behind him, gently placing her hands on his waist to balance herself.
Akshat glanced down, a soft smile appearing on his face. He reached back with his hands, taking hold of both her wrists, and gently pulled her arms completely forward, wrapping them securely around his chest so she was holding him tightly from behind.
Purvi's breath hitched. A deep crimson blush crept up her cheeks in the dark, and she leaned her head gently against his back, letting the warmth of the moment wash over them.
When the bike finally idle-purred to a stop outside her hostel gates, Purvi stepped off, handing him her helmet. As she turned to walk away, Akshat's voice stopped her.
"Purvi."
She turned back to look at him.
Akshat looked into her eyes, his expression full of a quiet, profound gratitude.
"Thank you."
Purvi gave him a beautiful, reassuring smile that promised everything would be alright.
"See you soon."
